The Fountain: Chapter Five

I raised the phone to my ear. “Dad?”

“Hey sweat heart!” Said the voice of my father instantly causing tears to well up in my eyes. His voice had the same chipper sound and warmth that I remembered but upon hearing my voice, his tone changed to one of concern. “Everything okay?”

The Fountain: Chapter Four

Matt’s hand flew to his cheek which had already turned red. “How was I supposed to know!”

“You. Son of a bitch!” I screamed.

“Andy, calm down.” Matt said softly.

“DO NOT tell me to calm down.” I said, my voice rising even more. “You turned me into a woman!” I shouted.

“I didn’t ask for this!” Matt said defensively. “It’s not like I wished for you to be a woman, just to find a woman like… you.” I could see a look of understanding and guilt fall over Matt’s face, replacing one of defiance.

The Fountain: Chapter Three

Phone.

My phone was ringing. Why did it sound so far away?

Oh. Right. I had passed out in the bathroom.

I was still in the bathroom.

My eyes slowly cracked open and I saw that I was slumped against the tub with my head between my legs. My eyes immediately fell onto the silky shorts with two soft round thighs protruding from them. I was still a woman.

The Fountain: Chapter Two

I wasn’t quite sure how I managed to get back home, let alone get into bed but as my eyes cracked open I realized at some point in the night, I must have managed to stumble back to my apartment.

For a few minutes I laid still, willing myself to go back to sleep. Unfortunately, my alcohol filled bladder was screaming at me to do otherwise. There was something else though. Something felt off, actually to be more specific, everything felt off. For one, I was wearing clothes. Boxers and a tank top which was weird. I normally slept naked.

Secondly, and perhaps I was still drunk, but I felt… smaller. Like someone had either shrunk me or made my bed significantly bigger.

The Fountain: Chapter One

I swirled what was left of my beer in the glass and made a clicking sound with my tongue. “I don’t know what to tell you man.” I finally said.

Matt hung his head in disappointment. “God dammit.” He groaned. “I’m an idiot.”

I shrugged and took the last sip of beer. It was a good excuse to keep my mouth shut. As if I was going to agree with him and tell him, yes in fact, you are an idiot. You let the woman of your dreams, an absolute smoke show, slip though you fingers because you are an untrusting idiot. I swallowed my drink, kept those thoughts to myself and gave Matt a reassuring pat on the back as stood up and went to the bathroom.

The Fountain: By Jennifer Greene

Pardon the bad Photoshop. It was something that I mocked up really quick in order to zchuzh up this post.

Over the last few weeks, I have been working on a "short" story that I am very excited to share with you all here. Over the next few months, I will be posting a new chapter bi-weekly until the project is completed.

"The Fountain follows the story of Andy Sanders, who's life is unexpectedly turned upside down by a drunken wish made by his friend Matthew. The Fountain aims to show the realistic emotions and reactions one might have when faced with an otherwise fantastical event."

Chapter One will be immediately available following this post!
